Fraud Reporting

Fraud and corruption costs the taxpayer hundreds of millions of pounds each year with the number of detected cases on the increase.

Halton Borough Council is committed to fighting fraud and corruption so that public money can be spent on providing vital services to the local community. You can help the Council to fight the fraudsters by reporting any concerns that you have about suspected fraud against the Council. You can report any concerns that you have here or by telephone on 0151 511 7799. Please try to provide as much information as possible to assist us with our investigation.

  • Council Tax Reduction (this has replaced Council Tax Benefit) fraud
  • Council Tax Single Person Discount fraud
  • Business Rates fraud
  • Procurement fraud
  • False insurance claims
  • Social care fraud
  • Voluntary sector / grant funding fraud
  • Employee fraud
  • Blue badge fraud
  • Debtor fraud
  • Environmental

If you suspect someone of claiming benefit you think they may not be entitled to (including Housing Benefit) you can report benefit fraud online.
